The distance between the sun & the Earth is 108 times the sun’s diameter, and the number can be found in many ancient structures and symbols. In malas specifically, this number represents the path to spiritual completion.

The Ether Mala represents the vishuddha chakra: the throat, communicator of inner truth, the insight to our soul and innermost dreams. This chakra connects to the human plane loka, the color blue, the planet Jupiter, and the element ether.
